Special Olympics National Games receives $100,000 from Digicel Foundation

Digicel Foundation has continued its partnership with the Special Olympics Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) with a $100,000 TT sponsorship for the 2024 edition of the National Games.

At the launch of the 2024 SOTT National Games at Digicel’s Maraval Road, Foundation CEO Newtown CEO Penny Gomez urged other corporate entities to come on board and sponsor the organisation.

“We are pleased to be the corporate champions for the Special Olympics National Games, but we truly hope that corporate Trinidad will see fit to truly and actively participate, through funding and even volunteering and recruiting the athletes encourage. ,” said Gomez.

Digicel Foundation supporter and radio DJ Joe Brien said it was heart-warming to see people with disabilities like himself given the opportunity to provide representation in sport.

Meanwhile, SOTT National Director Ferdinand Bibby said more than 700 athletes will take part in the games, which will cover nine different disciplines and take place at seven locations throughout the month of May.
