The Bounce theme park’s first Canadian stop could be in Coquitlam

If the city approves, FUNBOX plans to operate in Coquitlam on weekends and holidays through the end of September.

The largest jumping park in the world is coming to Coquitlam.

But first the city council must give the green light.

Last week, development application signs were placed around a gated lot east of the Coquitlam Center mall to advertise FUNBOX’s proposal. In the past, the vacant site housed an indoor circus and a plant shop.

Mike Druce of FUNBOX Vancouver said the Coquitlam location will be a first for Canada, offering an inflatable theme park with rides, slides, obstacle course and interactive games for visitors of all ages.

Based in Southern California, with offices in Phoenix, Miami and Madrid, FUNBOX was founded by Antonio Nieves to provide family fun and build community in a safe environment.

If the city approves, FUNBOX plans to operate in Coquitlam on weekends and holidays through the end of September.

“Staff are currently actively reviewing the application and will seek to bring the application to council for consideration at an upcoming council meeting in May or June,” Chris Jarvie, Coquitlam director of development services, told the Tricity News today, May 3.

Druce, a franchise owner, said he is excited to bring FUNBOX to the Tri-Cities.

“We are excited to announce our plans to bring this exciting adventure to Coquitlam Center in the summer of 2024, marking the first time this event will take place in Canada,” he said via email.

“However, we eagerly await approval from the City of Coquitlam to make this dream a reality. Stay tuned for more details once we clear this hurdle.”
