The University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics has been ranked one of the 10 best in the nation by the US Career Institute.

The American Career Institute rankings assess the quality of healthcare fields such as dental schools based on several key metrics, including academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per article, H-index citations and an international research network. These weighted factors were used to create an index that scored institutions out of 100 to determine which university offers the best dental education.

The University of Iowa’s dental school was ranked ninth in the nation.

The University of Michigan emerged as the highest-ranked institution with a score of 84.2. The UI is tied with Tufts University and The Ohio State University, with an index score of 67.8.

Iowa’s dental school dates back 140 years

There are more than 60 dental schools in the United States, offering degrees such as Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and advanced education programs for other dental specialties.

The College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa was founded in 1882, making it one of the oldest dental schools in the United States. The college emphasizes hands-on clinical training, giving students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and be a leader in dental research.
