Nigerian singer, Teniola Apata, simply known as Teni, has explained in a viral video why she prostrated herself to greet businessman and socialite Ibrahim Egungbohun, popularly known as IBD Dende.

Teni came under fire after she shared a video yesterday of herself prostrating herself to greet IBD Dende on a plane via her X-handle.

While posting the video, she wrote, “I met IBD Dende in front of the plane, Baba don drop oooooooo!!!! Make sure I land first!!!!!! I’m going to share the update!!!”

But most commentators condemned her for being linked to IBD Dende, despite allegations of smuggling made against him by an online publication.

Commenting this morning, Teni explained that she was not aware of any criminal activity linked to IBD Dende, adding that the businessman showed her kindness in 2014 before she became famous, and she has rated him highly ever since.

She added that she does not support criminals.

She wrote: “(I) met IBD (Dende) in 2014 and he was so good to me even before I blew up. So when I see him (ever), it’s always love.

“I honestly had no knowledge of any criminal activity associated with him. I don’t support criminals, so let the law take its course.”
