By Zoila Palma González: On May 3, 2024, Community Police Commander Howell Gillett and his team visited Guinea Grass Pentecostal Primary School.

Commander Gillett and his team of community police officers addressed 375 students.

“We came by to discuss, among other things, the harmful effects of drugs and cyberbullying. This type of involvement provides students with valuable information and resources to make informed decisions and stay safe in their communities and online. Second, it helps build positive relationships between law enforcement and youth, promoting trust and cooperation,” Gillett explained.

Gillett said having officers in schools can deter criminal behavior and promote a safer learning environment.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice from the officers.

Gillett thanked the school for inviting him to interact with the students.
