‘John Wick’ accused of murder

A 27-year-old man from Laventille has been charged with murder, malicious shooting, malicious possession of a firearm and malicious possession of ammunition.

The charges related to the death of Issac Daniel Simon and the wounding of Jathneil Wilson, both of whom were shot on June 8, 2023 in the Besson Street District.

Michael Hinckson, also known as ‘Mikey’ and ‘John Wick’ of Trou Macaque Road, Laventille, was charged with the offenses on Friday, following advice from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard.

PC Scantlebury of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region One laid the charges.

According to a police report, officers responded to a report of a shooting on Wharton Street, Laventille, on June 8, 2023, around 1:15 p.m.

When they arrived on scene, they saw two men with gunshot wounds.

Both men were taken to Port of Spain General Hospital.

However, Simon succumbed to his injuries on June 9, 2023.

Conducted investigation led to Hinckson’s arrest on Monday.

He was subsequently arraigned on Friday and is expected to appear before the Master of the Court on Monday.
