Officer punched in the face during arrest in Manchester, tooth dislodged | News

A police officer suffered a broken lip and lost a tooth after being punched in the face by a man during an arrest in Old Porus, Manchester, this morning.

The injured officer was subsequently taken for medical attention and has since been placed on medical leave.

The incident happened around eight o’clock.

The police officer, who is attached to Porus Police Station, reportedly responded to a report of a man threatening a woman in the Old Porus Road area.

He went to the area and the man was spotted.

He was confronted and allegedly repeated the threat in the presence of the police officer.

The police officer reportedly detained him and told him he would be arrested for making a threat.

The man reportedly vigorously resisted arrest and during a struggle he punched the police officer in the face, injuring him.

The man ran off and is currently being sought by police.
