The government is passing legislation to attract mega-investment projects to Saint Lucia

Canelles Resort will quickly transform into a major destination for both leisure and investment opportunities.

Government sources state that interest in investment in Saint Lucia is increasing and that Saint Lucia’s workers will be at the forefront of the developments to come.

A press release from the Prime Minister’s Office (OPM) said yesterday that local and foreign investment plays a crucial role in creating new jobs and upskilling the workforce so that people can secure salaries and contribute to the development of the country.

According to the press release, the government is actively pursuing investment projects “that will sustainably grow our economy, improve our infrastructure and create good-paying jobs for Saint Lucians.

Prime Minister Pierre ensures that negotiations with investors focus on the needs of the citizens of Saint Lucia and the prosperity of our country.”

The OPM says no new hotel was built following the opening of the Harbor Club in 2018 and states that Invest Saint Lucia has completed several investment projects since then.

“Today, hundreds of Saint Lucians are employed and working on the following development projects currently under construction,” the release said.

The projects include:

The Courtyard Marriott at Pointe Seraphine

Galaxy Resorts in Canelles, Micoud

Cabot Saint Lucia

The Cas En Bas beach resort

Secrets Resort and Spa Saint Lucia

Each of these projects will create new business links for local service providers and open doors to new jobs and careers for people when they officially open in the coming months.

In his fiscal policy speech on April 23, the Prime Minister announced new measures to build on this momentum. The government will introduce new legislation that will provide special incentives to attract and facilitate mega-investment projects in Saint Lucia.

Local and foreign companies are investing billions in Saint Lucia to scale up their operations. More mega investment projects will be launched this year, including:

– Rodney Bay City Center Investment Project, Gros-Islet

– The Grand Hyatt Hotel in Sabwisha, Choiseul

– A’ILA Resort & Spa Saint Lucia on Mount Pimard, Gros-Islet

– Cote de Reve in Black Bay, Laborie

– Faye Gastronomie Restaurant (storage and warehousing), Vieux-Fort

– Global Ports Holdings, Castries and Soufrière

– ItelCX, Vieux-Fort

– ASCENSION International Ltd, Soufrière

“There are plenty of opportunities for employment and wealth creation for the people of this country,” said Prime Minister Pierre.
